Mike Counes
1962 Harley Davidson Old School Chopper
In the 4 Months this GrandDaddy was in our shop it went thru significant changes removing Decades of rust & old age
Before it was here it was at Severe Cycles to get it running.
Here at our shop it received a few major repairs New tires ,Clutch Basket & primary drive belt seals and lots of little things like Upgrades to Stainless Nuts & Bolts
Rust Eradication
Paint correction & chips fixed
Head Lamp Light switch replaced
primary crankshaft seal replaced (because the nut was beat on with a hammer & chisel)
Lot of lots of polishing & rust removal.
Taking the wheels on & off both twice to insure safe fitment & opperabilty
While I'm sure she don’t feel like teenager but definitely has a new outlook on life.
CVO BAGGER
1982 FLH Shovel Head
1982 FLH Shovel Head came to me in the typical fashion . Dirty & Unloved for a Long ,long time. Well over 170 hours later She knows she's loved again. New Rubber tires & fuel lines. Stainless Steel Fasteners out the Wazoo & tons of TLC.
Things to note about this year is 1st year Back as Harley Davidson, NO AMF (Adios Mother Fucker)[ See what I did there?}
1st year drive belt & this bike also has a Adjustable Rake Triple tree for a side car.
I scraped off the paint on the heads back to bare aluminum & the Case. Painted the Jugs Harley Textured Black Painted the inside of the front fender. I had Bondo Bobs match me some Poly Urethane Enamel & its a perfect match! ( to do some touch ups also)
Then Sanded down the frame ,Taped everything off & primed it with Self Etching Epoxy Primer & then then a nice slick heavy coat of Vivid Black ALSO Poly Urethane Enamel.
I can Tell you that Taking apart & Re assembling this old Motorcycle was a Chore & 3/4's putting it together was difficult at times "oops! take it back apart to fit this & that & the other thing, LOL. (MF'er)"
The Next time I get one like this, its coming completely apart.
All & All it made a glorious come back .
SO! Norm being a dear friend of mine & he always takes very good care of his rides When this 2004 Heritage Softail came in I literally said out load " Oh Boy A easy Job for a change"! (I will from blurting that phrase out loud again for the rest of my life)
At first it was going very well, Then I noticed a small amount of Medium heavy rust on the spot light bars . So I had to remove them to treat them. The Plugs are under the Tank.
OK Onward.
Then I notice some heavy rust on the inside of the head light bezel then meant removing the head lamp
Ok Back to cleaning, so to clean around the "Cowbells" (Upper tins covering upper forks) I removed the 2 bolts when I did I noticed the Forks were leaking!
OK Forks out to Severe Cycles for rebuild & seals.
At this time Norm Decided to replace both tires.
SO to replace the tiny bolts with Stainless in the Lower Front Fender Trim Skirt. It's rusted!
So I bought & painted it with Polyurethane Enamel which did not match well so then I bought Base coat Clear coat which did the trick!
LMFAO so the simple job turn into medium surgery.
I thought maybe I should pre-emptively yank the engine & drive train just to make sure we don't miss anything ( Dry Sarcastic Humor Deal with it!) After that the Puzzle went back together very well.
When Rusty Brought his 2004 Vengeances to me I could see it needed a Bit of TLC. After "racking it" we decided to get Severe Cycles to do the rocker box leak & had the fenders repainted. Upon finishing up this job looking through the photo's I couldn't remember whey we sent it to paint .It was painfully obvious after seeing the photos . She cleaned up well & really the worst part is its bite! Yes it bit me TWICE in the same spot. I'm almost healed up now.
The Black Eye Pea, What can I say? This Belongs to Chris Sansevere Owner / Operator of Sever Cycles .Stuart, Florida.
I came into possession as a loaner while my bike is being redone. I really didn't care for it at first but, After riding it & cleaning her up well , its not so bad! Kinda grows on ya!
I had to do a bunch O work to her the Brake Lights were stuck on ,flushed the systems , Found that it had been hit in the right rear. Broken Support Fender bracket. Some twisted up sheet metal & hasn't been washed since the Nixon Administration ! New , motor mount, tires F&B ,Brakes, Voltage Regulator, Oil change .
A bunch Of detailing magic . Painting of parts .Polishing of forks & learning how to polish the ABS plastic ,well that was a job in its self & a lot of experimenting has been very helpful to me.
Now she's all cleaned up & ready for for some mileage.
Bryon Williams 1985 Dresser FLHTC AKA the “GREEN WIZARD”
This Motorcycle had not been started @ the time for TWENTY YEARS. I was the 1st to ride it in 22 Years. We were commissioned to do this resurrection detail in April of 2022 . I told the Customer it would take a couple of years ,as it would be “A Project Bike '' which means in between more prevalent jobs. Almost 2years to the date it was almost done . On the day the out side pictures were taken the Starter failed. So a few weeks later it was back running, After I had to rebuild the entire starting system. Thus upgrading the wiring & how it was previously wired from the factory which was complicated in its design & inefficient.
(Old schoolers say a Shovel is the best, I say its a PITA!) ( this 1985 has a bastard set up between Shovel & Evolution. For the Transmission& Rear Braking Systems
With over 200 Hours clocked in this Motorcycle it holds the Longest record in the 18 years {2024)we've been detailing Motorcycles (Harley's)for time consumption.
One of the biggest challenges was finding someone to remake the Windshield even though it has a Harley part # it's totally obsolete &unavailable. Fortunately for us one of my customers made a custom/retro replica out of Lexan.
Lots of New parts went into this Daytona Twin Tec ignition, New VOES, Tires, all the fluids, bearings,. New Bluetooth retro radio &speakers. Grips. floor boards & lots of Stainless bolts.
I was able to resurrect a lot of the chrome, scraped off the old texture paint & repainted it. Also repainted parts of the frame. Had the local Paint shop match the Green & Cream paint for touchups & chip repairs .
Special Shout out to my friends who helped along the way. Chris from Severe Cycles ( my main man for my parts fix) Crabby, Norm, The Big Elephant in the room, Chucky, Lil Bit Sue, Phil & the various other parts supplies who I pestered as I learned retro style.
for 2 years it's been a Journey, A long strange trip.
More than 60 hours of labor went into this motorcycle.
This 2006 Ultra Classic came to me in the same fashion, Cosmetically Neglected ,Unloved & add in a special factor. I am not sure of all the “who , what & why “, But seem to me Harley stopped making the “Plastic parts” out of Fiberglass & started using ABS. around the Millennium.
Now one would thing “Hey no big deal” ,BUT ABS seems to “Off Gas” a sticky by~product that is very difficult to work with. This is not the 1st one, but it will be the last one that get standard Treatment.
If you look closely at the before pictures of the red parts you will see tiny squiggly lines, They are from a dilapidated cover that the fibers are glued to the surface & very difficult to remedy .
Need less to say I was able to with a custom process.
This is the reason will not attempt to put a Nano Ceramic / Hydrophobic coating on.
ALL & ALL bike turned out very nice .
This is a Replica Version of the Iron Man bike in IRON MAN Movie in 2008 . Made by Zero Engineering titled as a 2008 motorcycle.
Typically, most bikes (up to 10 years & older) arrive in poor cosmetically condition. After over 50 hours of poking & prodding, polishing & preforming as many cosmetic restoration techniques possible with out a total disassembly . We were able to bring the luster & glory back .
Replacing the Standard Steel Bolts with Stainless Steel Polishing up the Solid Brass Foot Pegs & Kicker Pedal. Replace the Grade 8 Bolts with new to keep the “Gold Finish” Repainting some of the Black parts that were derogated. & Gun Blued the Kicker shaft to keep it from rusting again.
2nd appearance for this Motorcycle formally that Jack Daniels Bobber .
This 2007 FLHTCCUSE Screaming Eagle Ultra Classic Electra Glide came in to the shop in desperate need of some TLC. Many years of Idle neglect. Working with Chris to obtain some parts & fixing some messed up things we got her back to being the Queen of the Gala. LED headlamp replacement, sent the radio to get fixed removed a mouse nest , replaced a few old crusty bolts with new Stainless , new inner Ferring mounts A service bulletin for bolts that hurt the radio many hours of massage therapy , topped off with a Nano Ceramic Hydrophobic Coating ,new tires & bunches of other details .(its not just applying wax) its about getting the machine back into tip top working order & making it look awesome again. It really is soup to nuts”. A labor of love or a sickness which ever you choose to see. I enjoy it so ….
This Mystic Green & vivid Black 1999 Road King was in decent shape when I got it to the shop. the biggest hurdle was scraping out all the old dead wax that had been crammed up into the “nooks & cranny’s Even thou I quoted the price at 28 hours I still spent 40+ on it. I could have spent another 20 easy on it. But I am happy with the way it came out . With the MeGuire’s triple Threat wax job it will last a good long time.
This 1998 Heritage Softail Special Edition was a challenge to say the Least ( Which I seem to never do).
With over 100 hours invested it made a grand comeback transformation. from dirty piggy to a Proud Hog! As neglected as the chrome & paint were, its astonishing how well it all came back from never, never land.
Once we broke thru the crud it was very rewarding to work on.
It was even more of a pleasure to ride nice stock unmolested bike rode & handled excellent & the ride that Harley engineers have long forgotten or never knew of.
I LOVE EVO’s
This 2004 BIG DOG Chopper cam in as A dirty DAWG & Left a Polished Gem S&S 117 Side Winder EVOLUTION ( Evo’s Rock!) 6 Speed Overdrive ,right hand drive Transmission. will really set you in motion when you crack the throttle!
Over 100 hours of Fingering & Fussing, Polishing & Primping this Beast is ready for anything with all the Bling Bling in all the right places.
2003 100th Anniversary Softail. Another Piggy brought back to HOG STARDOM .
SO sometimes (mostly) I never know who’s bike it is nor what they want SOOOoooo I do it the way I would want it done. I had not a clue what this end result would be I did get creative with the “brushed Aluminum “ & some rust removal techniques. FURTHERMORE when I know nothing about the Bike or the owner I make up a name Dirt Bike DYNA is what works for me. CHEERS!
2017 Sportster Iron with 300 miles on it . it was a challenge cleaning up the Matte & satin finishes.
Because I do not know the Year of this bike, I am guestimating 2000. From what I understand it was a shiny bike that was parked & let go then sort a rat rodded & now re made shiny again (for the most part. Some paint here & there & lotsa magic fingers.
My First Newer BMW Came in for Ceramic Coating. I’m up for a challenge . Brian was very happy with the end result. ( that thing looks way faster than A speeding ticket)
At this point Bruce has been A loyal customer for over 8 years(2022) but had not been to us in a long time We put over 70 hours into the Road King taking her out of “PIG” status back to “KING HOG” status. We removed many years of Use .
Chris Sansever’s 2007 Street Glide.
Affectionately called “THE BEAST” by all who know.
in the 1st picture is titled “Look I Bend” with all the other Black Harleys.
With a Worked S&S 124 & A Jims Fat 5 OD transmission and tons of talent from Chris its very far from ordinary yet still very streetable.
Its a work of art while beasty & complex still very simplified.
I personally put over 800 miles on it @ $10. a gallon for racing fuel its definitely made for more smiles per mile with a big heaping dose of respect for the 180 HP your sitting on. It can lay 100’ of rubber in effortlessly in no time, with one hell of a roar. It don’t like slow very much.
Bottom Line WHAT A BLAST!
This Dyna cam in with a sportster of the same year in the same neglected condition. I did what I could for it & sent it on its way with 191 miles on it i was very rough
