This SS Drop Top Camaro was quite dirty when it arrived here. A serious bathing wash needed just to evaluate the situation. DEEP Scrubbing of the cloth top & Claying the paint ,plus scrubbing all the door jambs under the hood & trunk with tooth brushes on my hands & knees , added a few hours to the touch down time for indoor inspection. Once inside I let it dry in the A/C for 24 hours while inspecting & formulating the plan of attack.
Attack the top 1st cover entire car with plastic taping off the roof is important so not to contaminate the paint . Delinting with high tack packing tape, to get every speck before Appling the sealant is important. Then it must set for 24 hours to cure.
Then tape off the top & attack the paint & vinyl stripes, the Vinyl closest to the Sun was very damaged ,Not sure Why GM would not paint them stripes but … Compound ,Polish , Degrease with a lot of Paint Prep then onto the coasting process.
After the Coating ”C Quartz” it must set for 48 hours. in the Dry A/C.
Then the interior cleaning & cleaning the inside of the windows. Thank Goodness it was a Convertible I imagine I would get stuck inside if it was a coupe.
NOTE: the information I gathered said that the “HED (Heads up display) has a special tint film inside. I used “Stones Invisible Glass” All new ,virgin materials used. Applicators, Microfiber Towels ,ECT on the entire car.
All & All Rob & I Were very pleased with the end results.
As of 8/14/2018 paint is approx 2 months old , Wash ,clay ,compound, polish, paint scrub (paste) Paint decontamination then 2 coats of C~Quartz hydrophobic coating & Dr.Beasley’s Glass coating.
We could see the difference while applying & the end result Pictures just do not tell the whole story the perceived depth increased dramatically .& its slick.
This 1968 Camaro was brought to me for a extreme clean up .After washing the years of Shop dust off it is when the real problems lie.{Remember the Primary objective for paint is to protect the metal the secondary bonus it can look absolutely fabulous.}As you scan through out the photo's you can see the "swirls" in the paint. These are Micro Scratches in the paint that absorb the light instead of refracting it. Heavy Compounding & Polishing is the cure. After many hours of labor you can undoubtedly see the transformation from a mediocre car to a stunning Beauty of a Classic American Muscle Car.
High tech synthetic waxes were used to insure longevity Ultra Violet & Acid Rain Protection .The Waxes sacrifice themselves instead of the paint .
Tims '34 5 Window coupe was not in bad shape . A steel Body Fiberglass fender car Small Block Chevy 2-4 BBLs A/C .A nice Cruizer He actually bought it to chop it up & rat rod it but it was too nice, So He bought another car that was already in rough Rat Rod shape. As you can see the picture of the Clay it was in need of A great detailing.
A Fine Example Of Pontiac Motor Division in it's prime This numbers matching 1970 GTO H.O. came with the High Performance options of a High Output 455 CID Automatic. Electric windows. Straight from Restoration reassembly ,Wash ,Clay Polish multiple coats of wax .Then I reinstalled the grills and a bunch of other stuff Protected the Convertible top with convertible top protectant .You can tell the before pictures from the hood being open .Absolutly Beautiful car .BTW if money was not a option I would own one of these ..In Lucerne Blue
Burt Reynolds "The Bandit" Would be Proud to Drive this Extreme version of The Iconic Smokey & the Bandit car. while the exterior is stock the driveline is far from it Pontiac installed a 400 CID 6.6 L from the factory .This Beast is Punched out to 7.8 E.F.I 4L60-E And A Progressive Nitrous system Dialed in this car is not for the big old smokey burn out It hooks up & is gone!
This is a Awesome Restoration the paint on this truck needed nothing but to be protected A nice change of pace from the normal grunge.
International Trucks were built so well that the company's sales dropped as well as part sales until they folded.
TRAPPERS 1963 Blown Big Block Nova .House of Color's Tangelo Orange American Racing Wheels This car was in need of my skills .Paint clay compound & polish and cleaning all the bright work from top to bottom had the car on the lift removed the tires and cleaned & polished the underside and a high end polish on the blower & all the billet. Add to all that touch up paint in the engine compartment he Orange & Black really brought it all together . The car Won the 1st place prize for best engine compartment at the Extreme car show in Palm City 2016 .
This 1963 Fleetwood 60S Was A Blast to drive . If the roads flooded there is a prop that drops down so this old boat keeps going. (Kidding)one of the best riding cars I have ever driven. this is a case where the pictures do not do the cleaning justice if you look at the 1st set and then the last set you can notice the subtle change from yellowish to white I spent 3 and a half days polishing the grill.
Colleen's Audi Daily Driver
Pete's Corvette got a heavy dose of Epoxy overspray with many hours of elbow grease I was able to get it whipped back into shape. the texture of the overspray was so rough that it would shred a tissue.
Roger Hatton's 1964 Buick Rivera was a unique challenge. He had been searching for a piece of wood to replace the center console contact paper that had long ago eroded away . Now most people know me as a detailer only . I had enough wood to make one mistake ( I made no mistakes) Using my carpentry skills I cut out this wood to follow the grain all the way through . I also replaced the carpeting & some other things like interior lights, And I did a complete brake job including removal of the brake booster that was full of brake fluid.(it got low so people just kept adding it ) All the brake components were replaced Booster ,Master(Single reservoir) Brake lines steel & rubber ,wheel cylinders ,spring hardware & shoes (YES 4 wheel drum).I do great work if I say so myself.
Believe it or not this is the last year of the Seventh generation of the Olds 98.
From Wikipedia
The Oldsmobile 98 (sometimes spelled Ninety-Eight after 1958) is the full-size flagship model of Oldsmobile that was produced from 1940 until 1996. The name — reflecting a "Series 90" fitted with an 8-cylinder engine — first appeared in 1941 and was used again after American consumer automobile production resumed post-World War II. It was, as it would remain, the division's top-of-the-line model, with lesser Oldsmobiles having lower numbers such as the A-body 66 and 68, and the B-body 76 and 78. The Series 60 was retired in 1949, the same year the Oldsmobile 78 was replaced by the 88. The Oldsmobile 76 was retired after 1950. This left the two remaining number-names to carry on into the 1990s as the bread and butter of the full-size Oldsmobile lineup until the Oldsmobile Regency replaced the 98 in 1997.
This would be my 3rd most favorite car if money was no option (it would be blue) Such a great driving car and a Real head turner .it had a rare option of being a Hardtop convertible ,which means when you are inside the car it was simulated to look like the inside of a convertible.
Right Hand Steer & A ford V~8
Roger Hattons 1946 Packard Clipper. Inline Eight Cyl . The Color is Packard Blue (hard to tell in poor light). All original car. the Front end is so big it gets there 10 minuets before the passengers. Nice Riding /Driving car.
This 1951 Cadillac Durham Custom Limousine was owned by a famous costume designer named Ethyl Head .This was the most horrible car to drive with no power steering & bias ply tires it was a white knuckle ride . Equipped with 6 & 12 volt electrical systems the 12 volt was for the modern upgrades like the aftermarket A/C & stereo. A interesting car to say the least & she Prettied up very nicely. I was able to take the yellow tint out of the paint & it became a crisp white & with the Big Chrome she always gets a thumbs up from passer bys.
To say I was intimate with this car would be a understatement . I worked on it over about 5 months & a easy 1,000 hours into it, Packard started this car company when one of the Packards was so disappointed with a car he bought ,that he complained to the maker , the maker replied "'if you think you can build a better one go for it." So they did.
A packard in this era was worth more than a Rolls Royce ,you could by 2 Cadillacs for what this car cost (back then).
This car had a 40+ year old paint job & was no so much neglected but not well maintained by a detailed person, being a TRUE CLASSIC automobile not just a Antique it was purchased for $80,000. & ranked a LOW "C"
During the countless hours I spend @ first I attacked the bright work which this has absolutely NO CHROME it's all Nickel plated & it was as green as a 60 year old Penny. Working the brightwork for the top was treacherous @ the time that canvass roof was 86 years old & even getting the metal polish a little too close was unacceptable ,SO I had to be completely careful. Perfection careful NOT to get any on the canvass. While rubbing my ass off it was like polishing 80 grit sandpaper & would rip right through T shirt material .It took a long time.
Then all the rest of the metal it was very labor intensive and the Aluminum pieces some copper & brass.
The paint was nicked & chipped everywhere besides the 3 different shades of Grey there was a orange & red on the pinstripes & black paint I had to have color matched .it took a few stabs to get it right.
Neatsfoot oil for the 90- year old leather (look up Neatsfoot oil its down right gross)
All in all I brought this Classic from a Low "C" to A High "B" which pretty much doubled the value of the car. If I had to do it all over again I would charge A LOT MORE MONEY.
Fred was the sweetest driving car out of Rogers collection & you did not have to park him across the parking lot away from all the door knockers. One day Roger caught me looking at Fred. (the reality was, I let him catch me looking ). He looked at me and said, “you can’t make that car shine". I replied, ‘You wanna bet a quarter (million was what I was thinking but he was never gunna pay a that)? I had already been out to the car and did a few test spots (Mwuahahahaha...)!When I was done, he said, “I was wrong” and went to walk away. I said (in a gruff voice YO! whatta bout my quarta Ova Hea?!? He dug in his pocket & paid the money.
Zeke’s Jeep the biggest thing he wanted was the wheels to look mint & it took a lot to get them right I had my Friend Crabby engineer a special tool for doing around the lug nut holes.
The wheel’s were the most time consuming part of this detail
This 1963 Fleetwood is A fine Survivor with all the bells & whistles of her time she’s in fine shape with everything still working A/C & all .Driving this car is the lap of luxury .
She was a bit yellow before polishing & he said he tried to clean up the grill I took that as do the grill also.It took me 3.5 days .He was mad as hell while I did it but loved the end results (me too)
Literally the 1st black thing I polished making the leap to machines. .
Well there used to be a lot more pictures of this Beauty But I let my Former neighbor A “Computer Genius “ work on my PC & well bla bla.
Handcrafted Body & the hOod Emblem /Radiator cap Her name is “The Goddess of Speed”.
We had a thing going on for a while
So I needed A ride back from Pahokee to Deliver the car & Donna Volunteered. She was Here sassy self that day ,Maybe a little more than usual. & was getting up in my face (all in jest) I told her I was gunna roll her in the grass if she dint stop. Well she did not . At least it put a smile on her face.
Mike Zachman’s HEALTHY Big Block Nova. What can I say? CHEAP Mutha never paid his bill!! Dead Beat! that’s Mike off to the side with Brian Taglieri (in the shorts) who skipped out & left town owing me over $10,000. That’s the thanks I get for bailing him out @ Christmas & keeping a roof over him & his kids head. JERK OFF! Nice car thou.
