Bryon Williams 1985 Dresser FLHTC AKA the “GREEN WIZARD”
This Motorcycle had not been started @ the time for TWENTY YEARS. I was the 1st to ride it in 22 Years. We were commissioned to do this resurrection detail in April of 2022 . I told the Customer it would take a couple of years ,as it would be “A Project Bike '' which means in between more prevalent jobs. Almost 2years to the date it was almost done . On the day the out side pictures were taken the Starter failed. So a few weeks later it was back running, After I had to rebuild the entire starting system. Thus upgrading the wiring & how it was previously wired from the factory which was complicated in its design & inefficient.
(Old schoolers say a Shovel is the best, I say its a PITA!) ( this 1985 has a bastard set up between Shovel & Evolution. For the Transmission& Rear Braking Systems
With over 200 Hours clocked in this Motorcycle it holds the Longest record in the 18 years {2024)we've been detailing Motorcycles (Harley's)for time consumption.
One of the biggest challenges was finding someone to remake the Windshield even though it has a Harley part # it's totally obsolete &unavailable. Fortunately for us one of my customers made a custom/retro replica out of Lexan.
Lots of New parts went into this Daytona Twin Tec ignition, New VOES, Tires, all the fluids, bearings,. New Bluetooth retro radio &speakers. Grips. floor boards & lots of Stainless bolts.
I was able to resurrect a lot of the chrome, scraped off the old texture paint & repainted it. Also repainted parts of the frame. Had the local Paint shop match the Green & Cream paint for touchups & chip repairs .
Special Shout out to my friends who helped along the way. Chris from Severe Cycles ( my main man for my parts fix) Crabby, Norm, The Big Elephant in the room, Chucky, Lil Bit Sue, Phil & the various other parts supplies who I pestered as I learned retro style.
for 2 years it's been a Journey, A long strange trip.
