1982 FLH Shovel Head
1982 FLH Shovel Head came to me in the typical fashion . Dirty & Unloved for a Long ,long time. Well over 170 hours later She knows she's loved again. New Rubber tires & fuel lines. Stainless Steel Fasteners out the Wazoo & tons of TLC.
Things to note about this year is 1st year Back as Harley Davidson, NO AMF (Adios Mother Fucker)[ See what I did there?}
1st year drive belt & this bike also has a Adjustable Rake Triple tree for a side car.
I scraped off the paint on the heads back to bare aluminum & the Case. Painted the Jugs Harley Textured Black Painted the inside of the front fender. I had Bondo Bobs match me some Poly Urethane Enamel & its a perfect match! ( to do some touch ups also)
Then Sanded down the frame ,Taped everything off & primed it with Self Etching Epoxy Primer & then then a nice slick heavy coat of Vivid Black ALSO Poly Urethane Enamel.
I can Tell you that Taking apart & Re assembling this old Motorcycle was a Chore & 3/4's putting it together was difficult at times "oops! take it back apart to fit this & that & the other thing, LOL. (MF'er)"
The Next time I get one like this, its coming completely apart.
All & All it made a glorious come back .
